STEAMLabs code club

Who we Are

STEAMLabs Code Club is the flagship impact initiative of STEAMLabs Africa, delivered in partnership with the Raspberry Pi Foundation. We are a Pan-African educational program committed to empowering young learners and educators in underserved communities with future-ready digital skills. Through fun, hands-on coding projects and creative technology experiences, we nurture the next generation of problem-solvers, innovators, and digital citizens.

Our Goal

Our goal is to democratize access to quality computer science education across Africa. We aim to equip every child, regardless of location or backgroundwith digital fluency, computational thinking, and creative confidence. By supporting educators with training, mentorship, and curriculum-aligned resources, we are building a scalable and sustainable model for coding clubs that transforms classrooms and communities.

Our Principle

Equity
We believe every child deserves access to digital skills, regardless of geography or socioeconomic status.
Empowerment
We equip both learners and educators to lead, create, and solve problems using technology.
Creativity
We use project-based learning to spark imagination, innovation, and collaboration.
Sustainability
We invest in long-term impact through teacher capacity-building and resource support.
Community
We foster a growing network of local champions, mentors, and peer-to-peer learning.

Our impact

Since its inception, STEAMLabs Code Club has launched over 250 active clubs across Kenya, reaching thousands of learners aged 7–15. Our educator network continues to grow, with hundreds of teachers trained and supported through professional development, mentorship, and practical resources. From rural classrooms to urban hubs, learners are building confidence, creating digital solutions, and discovering new possibilities—one line of code at a time.

Program Description

STEAMLabs Code Club is STEAMLabs Africa’s flagship impact initiative delivered in partnership with the Raspberry Pi Foundation. The program equips learners with digital fluency and creative confidence through hands-on coding experiences. By embedding computational thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration into weekly club sessions, STEAMLabs Code Club directly address the digital divide and lack of access to future-ready skills in underserved communities.

What sets this program apart is its dual-impact approach: while learners gain essential 21st-century skills, educators are empowered with curriculum-aligned resources, training, and mentorship to lead engaging, sustainable coding sessions in their schools.

Target Audience

STEAMLabs Code Club are designed primarily for primary and junior secondary school learners aged 7–15 in underserved communities across Africa. The program also targets educators, especially ICT and STEM teachers, who are passionate about integrating creative coding and design thinking in their classrooms and becoming local champions for digital learning and innovation.

To date, we’ve reached over 250 STEAMLabs Code Clubs across Kenya.
