generation earthshot

  • Inspiring young Africans to imagine, innovate, and act for our planet.

Repairing Our Planet, One Idea at a Time

Generation Earthshot invites students aged 10+ and their teachers to join The Earthshot Prize mission—discovering the best solutions to help repair our planet.

“We believe every child in Africa can be a changemaker for our planet’s future.”

about the project

Generation Earthshot is a global learning initiative created by The Earthshot Prize and The World’s Largest Lesson, delivered in partnership with UNICEF and UNESCO.

At STEAMLabs Africa, we bring this mission to life across schools and communities by engaging learners in creative problem-solving for environmental challenges.
Through project-based learning, students explore the five Earthshots — Protect and Restore Nature, Clean Our Air, Revive Our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World, and Fix Our Climate — turning ideas into local impact.

the sTEAMLabs africa connection

STEAMLabs Africa joined Generation Earthshot to localize the movement across Africa – aligning with our vision to ignite young minds through Digital, Green, and Entrepreneurial Skills.

We design teacher toolkits, student challenge labs, and showcase platforms that allow learners to become environmental innovators in their own communities.

our focus

🌱

Learning for the Planet: Embedding sustainability in everyday lessons.

🔬

STEM Meets Environment: Using technology and creativity to solve real-world problems.

🌍

Local Action, Global Impact: Turning classroom ideas into measurable community projects.

💡

why it matters

“We’re not just teaching about the environment; we’re empowering a generation to heal it.”

  • Africa’s young population holds the key to a sustainable future. Yet, many learners lack opportunities to apply science, creativity, and design thinking to real-world challenges.

Generation Earthshot bridges that gap—helping young people dream bigger, design solutions, and act for the planet while aligning their ideas with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

the journey so far

100+ teachers trained to integrate the Earthshots into the curriculum.
